It is an undisputed fact that the online betting and gaming industry will keep on growing. Revenues from online betting and gaming have been increasing steadily in the past few years. Companies were quick to understand the great potential in this field and a lot of companies that were originally dedicated to betting started opening and operating online casino websites. Similarly, a lot of casino operators also own sports betting sites.

Betting and casino gaming are appealing because they’re quite fun and exciting, but there’s more to it. By betting and wagering at casinos online real money can be earned, and who doesn’t want extra cash?! Moreover, if the games in question are slots, hefty sums can be won within seconds. I always like testing out new slot games, especially ones mentioned by this online pokies authority.

Betting on football makes football a lot more fun, hence a lot of football fans are also betting pundits. Betting companies are well aware of this fact and that is one they keep a strong presence in the market. There are a lot of major, popular football clubs that are sponsored by betting companies. In fact, there isn’t a Premier League club that doesn’t have a sponsorship deal, while some have betting companies as their principal sponsors, featured on the shirts.

Let’s have a look at some of them.

English influence

West Ham, a club that is performing surprisingly well this season and might be able to secure a European qualification for a second year in a row, have Betway as their principal sponsor. The club and the company signed a 3 and a half-year deal worth a staggering £20m in 2015. A representative of East London’s ‘Claret and Blue’, said that this is the club’s biggest commercial deal and that people at the club are quite happy about it.

West Bromwich Albion is another Premier club which has a betting company as a principal sponsor. WBA signed a 2-year sponsorship deal with the Asian betting company. The deal amounts to about £2m per. WBA’s shirts feature the company’s logo in English and Chinese.

Stoke City have been sponsored by Bet365 for several years now. John Coates is chief executive of both Bet365 and Stoke. Bet365 will also acquire naming rights to Brittania Stadium. In a 6-year naming rights deal, Bet365 agreed to increase the capacity of the stadium by 1,800 seats.

From 2015, Marathonbet became an official partner of both Liverpool and their fierce rivals from neighbouring Manchester- Manchester United. Partnering with these two, by far most successful English clubs is seen as Marathonbet’s attempt to establish itself firmly on the British betting market. Both deals have been announced during the summer 2015.

2015 was a very important year for Mansion Group, as this company signed a sponsorship deal with Crystal Palace, thus becoming the main sponsor of this South London club which is about to remain in the Premier League for four consecutive seasons. It is estimated that the deal was worth £5m.

A lot of clubs sign regional sponsorship deals with betting companies. Arsenal for example has more than several regional betting partners, such as: Betfair, Bodog, DraftKings and Paddy Power. Paddy Power is the club’s regional betting partner in the UK, Ireland and Italy, whereas DraftKings is an official daily fantasy sports partner of the Gunners. Betfair is sponsoring Arsenal as a regional partner for Europe, excluding UK, Italy and Russia, whereas Bodog is the official Asian partner.

Influence worldwide

Betting companies sponsor many major European clubs, not just English teams. For example, bwin became the main sponsor of the most successful club in Europe, Real Madrid in 2007 and in 2013 a new deal was signed, now making bwin Real’s official betting and gaming partner. The company is also an official sponsor of the most successful club in Italy – Juventus, as well as of Belgian Anderlecht.

As you can see, betting companies sponsor a vast number of football clubs including the most successful football clubs in Europe. Betting companies also sponsor many clubs in the lower divisions, especially the English Championship, as well as national teams.

William Hill has been an official sponsor of the England National Team since 2012.
