It’s no secret that newly appointed Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, will be planning to bring in a series of players to overhaul the current squad. One player that has been strongly linked is Napoli midfielder Jorginho.

Born in Brazil, Jorginho grew up in Europe and has an Italian passport, representing his adopted nation at youth level.

Renaissance under Sarri

The Brazilian has enjoyed a renaissance this season under Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri, having initially began the campaign as cover for new signings Allan and Mirko Valdifiori – but he has established himself as an important player in the Partenopei’s midfield three.

The former Hellas Verona player, who joined Napoli outright in January 2014 for a total cost of 8.5m euros, has played in 11 games for Napoli this season.

His contributions have helped the side battle at the top of the table - they find themselves just two points from top position – behind Fiorentina, Inter Milan and Roma.

What are his strengths?

He is a solid defensive midfielder, with excellent close control and passing skills. According to Squawka the 23-year-old has won 16 tackles for the Partenopei this season and maintained an impressive 90 per cent passing accuracy.

He really is an excellent reader of the game and his temperament makes him an effective focal point in the centre of the park. He’s young but the way he plays the game and puts himself about, you would have thought he has played in the league for over 10 years.

In essence, Jorginho has provided Napoli with much needed steal, it’s little surprise the side have only suffered with one league defeat thus far this season (against Sassuolo).

How much is he worth?

It is estimated that it would take an offer between €20 million and €30m for the likes of Liverpool to prise the former Hellas Verona man away from Naples, given that he has three years left to run on his current deal.
