GK: Dorus De Vries

Why did the promotion-winning goalkeeper leave Swansea and join Wolves? Having barely played this season due to the ever impressive Wayne Hennessey, there seems to be no logic whatsoever in this move on De Vries’ part.
Had he stayed at Swansea this season, he would have been their number one goalkeeper, especially now with Wolves looking ever likely to get relegated and Swansea to stay up. The transfer seems to have drastically backfired for Wolves’ second goalkeeper.
Other Flops: Radek Cerny, Jussi Jaaskelinen
RB: Jose Bosingwa
The Chelsea right-back has been shaky at best; he fails to deliver on crosses, fails to realize his position defensively and can’t defend at all. Should Chelsea rebuild in the summer, he needs to go.
Andre Villas-Boas clearly realized this and often resorted to the impressive Branislav Ivanovic, who naturally is a centre back, rather than the ready-made right back in Bosingwa.
Other Flops: Dedryck Boyata, Bradley Orr
CB: Danny Gabbidon
Danny Gabbidon- throughout the years- has failed to prove himself as a Premier League footballer, first with West Ham and then with QPR. He lacks tactical awareness defensively, and arguably contributed to Neil Warnock’s downfall.
While Gabbidon has barely played since Nedum Onuoha was bought in January, his worst part of the season was when he failed to be ready for the start of the second half against Manchester United earlier this season. Stupid.
CB: Zat Knight
Zat Knight, this season, has been absolutely shocking. Cost his team dearly at times due to woeful marking and ineffective clearances. In previous seasons, however, he was quite good and even at Fulham he was in for an England place, but this season his performances have gone off the boil, and those performances have caused Bolton to slip into a relegation fight.
You must be doing something wrong when Coyle replaces you with an untried MLS player in Tim Ream (who has been very good), and the inconsistent David Wheater.
Other Flops: Stefan Savic, Matthew Upson, David Luiz, Roger Johnson
LB: Armand Traore
Another QPR player has been added to the list in the shape of Armand Traore, who has been completely rubbish at QPR this season. Just a few years ago, Traore – then an Arsenal up and coming prospect – was touted for big things, and the successor to Gael Clichy, but now Traore is playing his trade at lowly Premier League side QPR.
His last performance for Arsenal against Manchester United in the 8-2 thumping created the feeling that Arsenal were playing with 10 men (in fact that whole game Arsenal looked lost really), and then for QPR, he can’t defend, attack or even seem to be able to do anything right.
As soon as Mark Hughes took the helm at QPR, he signed AC Milan left back Taye Taiwo to replace Traore.
Other Flops: Stephen Warnock, Maynor Figueroa
RM: Charles N’Zogbia
After the summer sales of Ashley Young and Stewart Downing, Aston Villa fans needed something to shout about this season and hope was restored when Villa announced the £10 million signing of Charles N’Zogbia from Wigan. Yet those hopes have been heavily trampled upon.
The over confident, cocky N’Zogbia seems to have lost his way, often out of ideas, and tends to lose the ball when he does even get on the pitch.
N’Zogbia has failed to be the bright light in the dim season that Villa have had.
Other Flops: Shaun Wright-Phillips, Gabriel Obertan
CM: Adel Taarabt
This time last year, the QPR talisman was making headlines left right and centre. “The Tottenham Hotspur reject has been the Championship’s best player and is wanted by Paris Saint Germain.” That was then.
Having had the most amount of shots this season without scoring, Taarabt is desperately unlucky, but he has failed to show the kind of form he did last season, and has been incredibly inconsistent.
He has simply failed to show up when his team has needed it most.
CM: Raul Meireles
What has happened to Raul Meireles? One of Liverpool’s best players last season, Meireles followed suit with Fernando Torres and joined Chelsea on the last day of the subsequent transfer window.
Just like Torres, Meireles has failed to find his feet at his new team, and apart from his fantastic performance against Manchester City earlier in the season, Meireles has been sub-par and performance wise is not worthy of a side such as Chelsea.
Other Flops: Joey Barton, Barry Bannan, Steve Sidwell, Samba Diakite
LM: Stewart Downing
Stewart Downing took 5 months to score a goal for Liverpool, and even that was in the FA Cup. He’s been completely ineffective, and resides as the type of player who seems scared to take on defenders. For wingers it should be the other way around.
How he still gets in England’s squads amazes me, Downing has quite simply failed to live up to his inflated £20 million price tag.
Other Flops: Jean Beausejour, Albert Crusat
ST: Andy Carroll
Throughout this season, especially throughout Luis Suarez’s 8 match suspension, Andy Carroll has been given chance after chance by Kenny Dalglish to prove his worth. Carroll time after time has failed to prove that worth, and has only scored 3 league goals all season, a statistic bettered by Pavel Pogrebnyak in just 3 games in English football.
Carroll has consistently been woeful and doesn’t seem to be able to show the form he produced at Newcastle. His style of football does not suit Liverpool’s tactics in the slightest and he’d be better off elsewhere next season.
ST: Jay Bothroyd
How on earth did Bothroyd ever get an England cap last season? Bothroyd has been utter rubbish throughout this season to the extent that QPR now have 4 strikers better than him, despite signing just last summer.
Bothroyd is clearly not Premier League caliber and he struggles against even the worst Premier League defences, only returning 2 goals all season.
Other Flops: Franco Di Santo, Anthony Modeste, Ricardo Fuller, Park Chu-Young
*For people who believe Torres should be on here, he shouldn’t as his play for Chelsea is exemplary and despite the lack of goals, he sure creates a lot.
