Match preview - MUFC vs Norwich

MUFC look to continue their unbeaten record to the season as they welcome newly promoted Norwich City to Old Trafford.

On paper, a healthy home win is expected, but here are a few reasons why it could so easily be different.

Norwich have been impressive since arriving in the Premiership and have won two games on the bounce against Bolton and Sunderland and are looking comfortable.

MUFC have been slightly shaky as of late, last week taking a point against Stoke and recently losing their 2-0 lead in midweek to Basel in the Champions League. They eventually had to score a last minute goal to scrape a 3-3 draw.

However, good news for MUFC is that Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez are fit for Saturday’s game after Sir Alex Ferguson announced the news at Friday’s press conference. Sir Alex also announced that Jonny Evans was in contention to start MUFC’s first 3pm kick off on a Saturday this season.

Chris Smalling, Nemanja Vidic and Rafael are all still out through injuries. Tom Cleverley and Darren Gibson are both also still out.

Norwich have a couple of problems as well with James Vaughan out after Rickie Lambert announced he would be out for 16 weeks. Norwich loanee Richie De Laet is ineligible and will not play against his parent club.

I’m still confident of a home win, but not as confident as I would have been a fortnight ago. MUFC have done well to cope with these injuries and the situation could have been a lot worse.

Team prediction; De Gea, Jones, Evans, Ferdinand, Evra, Young, Nani, Fletcher, Anderson, Rooney, Welbeck.

Score prediction; a 3-0 or 4-0 win for MUFC with Ashley Young on the scoresheet for sure.

For now, take care!
