Deadline Day Latest: Thomas Eisfeld officially a Gunner. Summer signing on the horizon?

We’re now in that stage, about a half an hour to go before the window closes, the final moments of an interesting deadline day.

Here’s the latest:

Arsenal have officially confirmed the signing of 19 year old midfielder, Thomas Eisfeld, from Borussia Dortmund on a “long term contract”.

Eisfeld, scored six goals and made six assists in 12 appearances this season and feels “very proud to have signed for Arsenal…. a great club, with many great players.”

The manager was effusive in his praise of Eisfeld, saying that he has the “attitude and technical ability to be a valuable addition to our squad.”

I hope Eisfeld does well and wish him all the best with the Gunners.

Summer signing on the horizon?

According to German site, 4-4-2, Arsenal have secured the signing of Schalke’s Lewis Holtby and will join in the summer.

The 21 year old, German international’s contract reportedly expires in 2013, and has signed a contract this week with Arsenal, according to the site.

Holtby came into the public eye last season, with his eye catching displays while on loan at Mainz. He’s versatile and can play anywhere in midfield, creative, and has a good eye for goal.

He’ll certainly be a very good signing for Arsenal, if the report is true.

Here are a couple of videos of him in action:

With under an hour to go before the window closes, it seems unlikely that the club will be making another acquisition besides Eisfeld.

Still hoping, but the chances are diminishing by each passing minute.

Cheers,
