It was a somber day for Manchester United when Cristiano Ronaldo was sold. The club may have got a world record 80 million fee for selling him, but he is simply irreplaceable.
According to ex-player, Patrice Evra, he said that Alex Ferguson was 99% sure that the Portuguese forward would return at some point to Old Trafford.
Ronaldo spent six very successful seasons with the Red Devils and left in 2009 to Real Madrid. The club paid just over 12 million for his signature from Sporting Lisbon. During his time spent playing at Old Trafford, he helped the team to win three consecutive league titles.
He has been linked recently with a move back to Manchester United after a dreadful start to the season. If he does join the club, he loves so much they will be the best free bet to win the Premier League title.
Evra’s testimony
During an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live, former player Evra said “[Ferguson] said ‘I’m 99% Cristiano Ronaldo will come.’”
The French international went on to say that while Ronaldo was at United, he spoke a great deal to the three times Ballon d’Or winner. He said that he tried to persuade the world’s best play to come back once he left.
Ronaldo has a great love for his former team and during the Champions League in 2013 when United played Real at Old Trafford, Evra said that Ronaldo said to him: “All night I couldn’t sleep. I even had a nosebleed because of too much emotion.”
Ronaldo is Real’s top goalscorer of all time and was linked with a move back to United during a bad run that he was going through. He did not manage to score a goal in nine of his last 13 games in all competitions.
Van Gaal wants him to return
Manchester United manager, Louis Van Gaal has said that he would like to sign the player and bring him back home. The Red Devils will have a lot of competition to sign him though as PSG are also keen. Free bets sites have the French Champions as slight favorites for his signature.
It is believed that currently Ronaldo is not getting along with new Real manager Rafa Benitez. His team is now third in the league and were recently humiliated 4 – 0 in the El Clasico. The result led to many people using free bets sites to put money on the manager been sacked.
Denial
Ronaldo’s agents have stated that it is not possible for the Portuguese captain to leave Real to join either Manchester United or Paris Saint-Germain. He was recently on a TV show in France and said: “It is impossible. He will end his career at Real Madrid.”
Once the season is over, and the transfer market opens, there is going to be a lot of speculation over Ronaldo. The best free bets have him staying at Real, but if his relationship gets worse with his manager, these odds will shorten.
