I have decided to distance myself from the frivolities of idle transfer talks just to up traffic to read an article. This article is going to border on our possible formations with emphasis on the final third position.

As we know, we have got RVP and Podolski, who I have glued my a** to my seat to watch Germany for and the possibility of Giroud joining is mouth watering.

What would be lugubrious is seeing Arshavin and Bendtner leave despite their terrific form for their respective countries. That said, even if they were to leave, I am sure no more attack minded players would be added.

To the formation, if all the touted players were to join, i.e Giroud, M’Vila et al, the formation would pretty much look like when during the 06/07 campaign where we employed the 4-4-2 formation in the league and 4-5-1 in Europe.

The league formation would be like this:

Szczesny in goal, Sagna (RB), Koscielny (CB) and Vermaelen (CB), Gibbs (LB). The midfield will look like this, M’Vila (DM), Song (CM), Gervinho/Theo (RWF), Podolski (LWF) with RVP and Giroud will be the two upfront.

This formation is likely to change with form and fatigue coming into play. Depending on which, our bench should rise up to the occasion. Wilshere should be left to recover fully from his injury while Arteta must, as much as it tastes so sour, be dropped. It is going to be a bench really filled with formation headaches for the gaffer.

The European formation would look like this. The same back line and goalkeeper, then we revert to M’Vila (DM), Song (CM), Arteta/Rosicky (CAM), Podolski (LWF), Gervinho/Theo (RWF) with RVP as the solitary forward and Giroud benched.

As time goes on, we encounter ‘park the bus’ teams, we can throw all our attacking players with M’Vila to cover up for them.

It was a big headache picking this formation (I guess that is why I am not the coach) but I know, he too would have a tough time picking his side for games.

These are MY formations and not Wenger’s, feel free to drop your comments below.
