Juventus appear to be reaping the benefits of sprightly summer transfer activity, while Napoli has simply carried on their excellent form into the new season.

Six wins from as many games have left both teams with the starts they would have been craving before the campaign got underway.

Hard-fought win

Indeed it was mainstays Insigne, Callejon and Ghoulam who helped Napoli to a 2-3 victory at newly promoted SPAL, whose spirited showing displayed the characteristics of a team not short on confidence despite their previous 3 losses.

At 2-2 the game was either’s for the taking, but the decisive finish came somewhat surprisingly through the away side’s left full back Faouzi Ghoulam, whose aggressive run was rewarded when his well placed strike whistled beyond SPAL’s Gomis.

Heroic home record

Juventus’ heroic home record was put into the spotlight once more with a comprehensive 4-0 victory against rivals Torino. The away side held their own for periods during the game, but didn’t really have enough to threaten their opponents in the final third.

Chiellini has further solidified Juventus at the back but made telling contributions with his distribution from deep. Pjanic gave a highly impressive all round performance with his pressing off the ball as well as his forward contribution, establishing an important synchronicity between himself and new recruit Blaise Matuidi.

Sandro put the game beyond doubt, if there was any, with a header that made it 3-0 before Dybala grabbed his second to rub salt in Torino’s wounds with his 10th league goal.

Champions League switch-up

Juve host Olympiakos on Wednesday in the Champions League while Napoli takes on Feyenoord Tuesday evening.
