Manchester United have begun negotiations with Valencia over the sale of Carlos Soler.

Reports over the weekend have suggested that Jose Mourinho has identified Soler as a target and that the United hierarchy have opened up a line of communication with Spanish club; the fee is expected to be within the region of £30 million.

This is despite him having a buy-out clause of £75 million, but the Reds are set to exploit Valencia’s precarious financial position and bargain for a cut-price fee.

The Verdict

Valencia sit second in La Liga, unbeaten and in breathless form, having humiliated Sevilla 4-0 on the weekend.

Soler has been an integral member in Marcelino Garcia’s side and has established himself as a first team regular after making his debut last December.

A product of Valencia’s youth-system, he is well versed in the continental style Valencia seek to implement.

Soler has been touted as a future Spanish superstar and if the Red Devils can land him for just £30 million - ‘just’ because of the inflated transfer climate – it would represent shrewd business.
