Ashley Young is set to dive head-first into a multi-million pound offer from China – yes, that is a pun referencing his tendency for simulation.
The 31 year-old still has a contract that runs until 2018 at Old Trafford, and United would demand a figure of around £10 million for their out-of-favour winger.
Shandong interested
Shandong Luneng are said to be the team interested in acquiring his services and are willing to offer £16 million over four years to lure the ex-England international to China.
Young already earns £120,000 a week, having signed a contract extension under the reign of Louis van Gaal, so he already earns a substantial salary – but, it is unlikely he would be able to earn such a wage for much longer in the Premier League and China appears to be the most viable option if he is to maximise his career earnings.
Coached by a recognized figure
The Chinese side are coached by ex-Fulham manager Felix Magath and have two recognisable faces; Papiss Cisse and Graziano Pelle heading their attack.
