According to The Sun, Philippe Coutinho is keen on a move to Barcelona.
Despite his contract being set to expire in 2020, the Liverpool midfielder’s representatives reportedly attempted to facilitate a transfer in the summer with Luis Enrique opting to strengthen other areas of his squad.
Stellar season
Coutinho, 24, has had a stellar start to the season having scored four goals and registered four assists for Liverpool thus far.
The Brazilian has linked up quite nicely with Mane and Firmino in recent weeks and the deadly trio look set to spur the Reds on to the top of the table should they maintain their impressive showings.
Jurgen Klopp has no intention of letting Coutinho leave the club anytime soon hence should a bid be made it’s expected that the German tactician will prompt the club to reject it.
Interested clubs
Paris-Saint Germain and Real Madrid have also been linked with a move for Coutinho as speculation suggests that Los Blancos contacted the 23-year-old’s agent despite being under a transfer ban.
Possible replacement
Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne has been linked with the Reds in recent weeks hence he could prove to be a quality replacement if Coutinho makes a switch to Barcelona.
Insigne is quite similar to Coutinho, the fact that he’s adept to playing as a striker as well as a winger will prove beneficial for the Reds seeing as Liverpool is short on quality options in the attacking third.
