Manchester United suffered a serious blow when it emerged that Antoine Griezmann was set to stay for another year at Atletico Madrid.

According to The Independent, United officials have made the Frenchman less of a priority, and are exploring further options.

Step in, serial goal-scorer Robert Lewandowski and precocious talent Kylian Mbappe.

Perfect fit

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract situation still undecided, Jose Mourinho is very open to the possibility of signing the Polish forward as a replacement – Lewandowski’s star quality would not only be an ample replacement for the big Swede, but would also be on par with the marquee level Griezmann has.

Lewandowski, in many ways, would be a like-for-like fit in any Ibrahimovic sized hole.

The Bayern Munich star is imposing, physical and ruthlessly clinical. He has recently signed a new contract with the German giants, but United are willing to test their resolve.

Mbappe to Manchester?

Mbappe has burst onto the scene this year, being a crucial element in Monaco’s impressive resurgence.

The 18 year-old has an abundance of talent and immense potential; for some, he is already better than Anthony Martial, who many are comparing him to.

Any transfer for the lighting-fast teenager is likely to be a mouth-wateringly high one.
