Manchester United were given good news this week as Daishawn Redan, Ajax prodigy, confirmed he will be leaving the club in the summer.

The Red Devils, according to The Sun, are heading the queue lining up for his signature.

Not a secret

United have not kept any secrets about wanting the 16 year-old to join their prestigious academy and hope the striker can spear head an academy that includes many promising prospects; Angel Gomes, to name but one.

Red has been capped at the youth levels for Holland and has been singled out as a future star for a faltering national team.

Stiff competition

However, Jose Mourinho will face competition from rivals Manchester City, who have also been alerted to the teenager’s huge potential.

City have fast made a reputation as being a club that harbours the best young talent, with a state of the art training facility married with an extensive scouting network, and Redan’s head could be turned by the promise of better development.
