In official news, Jordan Rhodes has signed on with Championship side Sheffield Wednesday on a loan deal till the end of this season.
The Scotland international striker was heavily mooted to depart the Premier League side this January window and finally managed to find a route out in the form of Sheffield Wednesday.
The former Blackburn star barely featured for Boro this season with manager Karanka preferring former Manchester City and Sevilla star Alvaro Negredo as the club’s starting forward.
It is believed that the 26 year old will join the Championship in the summer on a permanent basis for a fee of £10 million.
The Scotsman scored six goals in 24 appearances for Boro since his arrival in January 2016 from Blackburn for £9 million, where he caught the eye of the top tier scoring 83 goals in 159 appearances.
He also scored 73 goals in 124 appearances for Huddersfield Town.
