According to Sky Sports, Leicester City have made a move to sign Francesco Acerbi from Serie A side Sassuolo.

The Italy international defender has proven to be one of Serie A’s best defenders in recent years making over 100 appearances with the Italian side.

As reported by Sky Sports:

“Claudio Ranieri has targeted a new centre back as a priority ahead of the January transfer window and Leicester have reportedly contacted Sassuolo for permission to speak with the 28-year-old.

However, the Premier League champions could face stiff competition for his signature as Inter Milan are thought to have renewed their interest in the player after having bids rejected during the summer.

Acerbi has made over 100 appearances for the Serie A side and helped them finish sixth last season to secure European football.

The Lombardy-born defender has won two Italy caps and started his career with Pavia before moving to Reggina, Genoa and then Sassuolo, with loan stints at Chievo and Milan.”
