Liverpool have made another new signing this season, with it being 18 year old forward Samed Yesil from German side Bayern Leverkusen. But who exactly is he?

Name – Samed Yesil
Age – 18
Position – Striker
Nationality – German

£1 million is the price that brought the 18 year old from Germany to England this summer after only just 1 appearance for the club he is leaving, with that appearance being as a substitute. Liverpool definitely need a striker this summer as Andy Carroll has been loaned to London and will link up with West Ham for the current season and bar from Borini + Suarez Liverpool don’t have any extra goal threat on the bench.

Surely this 18 year old with only a number of minutes under his belt for Bayer Leverkusen couldn’t be a back up striker?

I don’t think so, since the departure of Carroll a rumour that has picked up pace since last night is a high interest in Chelsea and former Manchester City forward Daniel Sturridge. However Yesil has proved in the U17 + U16 levels for Germany he can score goals with the forward catching the eye in the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup by picking up the silver shoe after scoring six goals in the competition.

First team football will be key for the 18 year old, however, I can’t see him getting much of that this season especially in the Premier League with only 1 club appearance under his belt but could be a regular feature in the Capital One Cup or could even get a run out in the Europa League this season. It is unlikely he will make an impact in the Liverpool side this season in my opinion but can progress in the Premier League U21 to improve and break the first team.

I’ve said how this 18 year old might not even feature this season with only little club football to his name, but he could follow in the footsteps of Raheem Sterling and make an immediate impact on the side this season after impressing in the handful of games he has played so far this season.
