Why this ex-Arsenal prodigy deserves a World Cup call-up

Germany manager Joachim Löw announces his World Cup squad on May 15th and Serge Gnabry is hitting form just at the right time.

He’s worked incredibly hard this season to get over injuries and has been in excellent form. The on-loan Bayern has scored 6 goals in last 6 games. Gnabry really deserves a spot in the WC squad, and being versatile is a huge bonus as he can fill in at different positions.

Gnabry started his career in England with Arsenal and he made his professional debut in September 2012. He also had a brief spell on loan with West Bromwich Albion, which was not successful.

In August 2016, he came back to Germany to join Werder Bremen. In his single season at the club, he made 27 league appearances scoring 11 goals while Werder Bremen finished 8th in the Bundesliga. The way Gnabry seemed to carry the team at times in that season was reminiscent of Kevin De Bruyne’s impact in Bremen when he enjoyed a successful loan spell in the season 2012/2013.

Last summer, Bayern bought him from Werder Bremen and they have immediately sent him on another loan spell, this time at Hoffenheim.

Nagelsmann made Gnabry a better player. He is enjoying his best season yet, with nine goals and four assists in 18 starts. Only Robert Lewandowski is better than him in 2018 in the Bundesliga for contributing to scoring goals.

Hoffenheim’s CEO confirmed that the club will not be loaning Serge from Bayern Munich again next season. He’s matured into a great offensive player and next year he will be a great addition to Bayern. He looks really like a hard-worker and has proved that he is Bayern material.

If he can maintain this form until the end of the season and continue to exceed expectation, Joachim Low will have no alternative but to take him to Russia.
