Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld has emerged as a late target for Inter Milan, TalkSport suggests.
Reports have suggested that the Belgian’s contract negotiations have stalled – in a week where Danny Rose bemoaned his salary, of £65,000 a week, when players of his ilk are earning sums of £100,000 a week.
Backed by wealthy owners, Milan has a large transfer chest. The Belgian’s deal still has three years left, so any fee would be upwards of £40 million, but he may be tempted by the riches at Inter.
The Verdict
Spurs simply cannot afford to lose Alderweireld. The centre-back is one of the best in the league, if not the business, and is integral to Mauricio Pochettino’s firm defence.
Losing the Belgian would be disastrous, regardless of any income generated from the fee. If an offer does materialise, Spurs must do their utmost to keep hold of one of the prized assets.
