“Welcome to Liverpool” - Fans reply to 22-goal hitman’s recent tweet

Liverpool fans have gone overboard with speculations linking Lyon skipper Nabil Fekir to the club.

According to the Liverpool Echo, negotiations between the two sides are yet to begin in earnest, though, with Reds’ current attention focused on the Champions League final.

Fekir and the Merseysiders could become a match made in heaven. The 24-year-old is one of Ligue 1’s shining stars this season.

He’s enjoying his most stellar run in the final third, scoring 22 goals, providing seven assists in 38 appearances. Just five players racked up more in the league.

Lyon has been blazing hot, firing on all cylinders this term.

With 84 strikes, they flaunt the second best attack in the French top-tier behind Paris Saint-Germain (108). Fekir has single-handedly contributed almost one-third of those.

Goals haven’t been a problem for Jurgen Klopp’s team, though. In Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, they flaunt arguably Europe’s deadliest front-three. However, Fekir brings something different to the table.

With Salah and Mane operating from the flanks, Firmino up top, Fekir could slot behind the Brazilian. Similar to Philippe Coutinho’s former role taking up by Alex Oxlade Chamberlain.

A typical modern-age attacking midfielder, he is gifted with pace, technical ability, dribbling skills and a lofty presence on the ball.

Tailor-made for English football’s rigours, Fekir is fast, strong and adept with both feet.

He is versatile, too. At times he has played as a central midfielder in a three, while at others he has been stationed on the wing or even occasionally as a false 9.

This would be a priceless asset with options at Anfield. He could be deployed in a deeper role or further forward. Other cases, he may take up any of the flanks or alternate with Firmino up tops.

Fekir’s attitude and commitment level has continually been questioned. However, he appears way more focused, determined and sharper physically.

No wonder he has amassed more duels than any other player in the league.
