3 Reasons Why Manchester United Will Defeat Sevilla

Manchester United put up a fine performance as they registered a 2-1 win over Liverpool at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The Red Devils blitzed past the visitors with two first half goals within a span of ten minutes courtesy of Marcus Rashford, before seeing the game out despite an Eric Bailly own goal midway through the second half.

United however had no time to drool over the victory, as Jose Mourinho’s charges reported to training the following day ahead of their crunch tie with Sevilla in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16.

Despite having little recovery time and the ever lingering possibility of players developing jaded legs, United without question look poised to make it to the final eight of the Champions League.

 

High on confidence

A run of three wins on the trot should be the norm for a club the like Manchester United, but it is the nature of the victories that more than anything else makes them the exception.

United may have showed great resilience and strength in character when they fought from a goal down to register an emphatic 2-1 win over Chelsea a fortnight ago, but it was the victory over Crystal Palace that highlighted their winning mentality.

The Red devils sparked a remarkable comeback from 2-0 down to emerge 3-2 victors through a last gasp volley by Nemanja Matic.

United currently look like a side with real purpose and will confidently take on anyone.

 

Mourinho knockout specialist

Jose Mourinho may quite rightly be on the verge of failing to deliver the domestic League in the second season, for the first time in his illustrious career, but the Portuguese is still, for all intents and purposes, a specialist in knockout tournaments.

Jose consolidated his poor form in the Premier League last season by delivering the Europa League and EFL Cup, and will unequivocally fancy his chances against the Spanish outfit.

 

Integral home support

Very rarely, since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, has Old Trafford been entertained to thrilling Champions League nights.

Jose Mourinho has been the catalyst for change since his appointment, and his approach will certainly go a long way in determining the outcome of the match.

Be that as it may, the Old Trafford faithful will see United over the line, especially if the Manchester United gaffer makes a smash and grab approach to the encounter, seeing as they registered a barren draw in Seville during the first leg.
