Journalist confirms Man United want to sign Jones’ £60m perfect partner

Manchester United is in line to make an audacious move in trying to buy Altetico Madrid young defender, Jose Gimenez. The 22-year-old is on the radar of Jose Mourinho and he’s considering going all out for the Uruguay international.

The approach United are trying to take is to buy out his current contract which is said to be worth £60m. This is according to Barney Corkhill, the Sports Mole journalist.

The Red Devils are keen on getting an extra defender in the winter transfer window. After a 4-2 win at Carrow Road against Watford, United want to strengthen their defensive line. Identifying Jose Gimenez as the player capable of improving their squad defensively means lot of cash will have to be splashed if he is to join United in January.

With 37 international caps for Uruguay at 22, Gimenez is a talent that can’t be overlooked. A goal and an assist each in 10 appearances this season for Atletico Madrid also highlights his contribution attacking wise.

After joining from home club Danubio in 2013 for €900000, Gimenez has gone on to make 107 appearances netting 5 times in the process. He was part of the team that reached two Champions League finals and won the La Liga in 2014.

Gimenez has fallen in the pecking order in the starting eleven with Stevan Savic and Diego Godin favored ahead of him. United coming with cash to lure him to Old Trafford might be a way out for him and the club as he has only started 4 times this season.
