The Tottenham Hotspur fan base is fired up as they are back on the pitch for the 2019 season and the English Premier League is officially under way. The Hotspurs have played 7 games thus far, 2 of them being in the EPL, with their next match coming on August 25th.
Tottenham has had a solid showing in their first few games so far. They finished with one win, one loss, and one draw in the International Champions Cup in that order.
In their first International Champions Cup fixture, the Hotspurs beat Juventus 3-2. They then played Manchester United who narrowly defeated them 2-1. Next up for the Hotspurs was Inter Milan who won the Hotspurs final ICC fixture on penalty kicks.
They then competed in the Audi Cup where they defeated Real Madrid 1-0 and then played Bayern Munich to the tune of a 2-2 score after 90 minutes, in which the game was then decided on penalty kicks. The Hotspurs bested Bayern 6-5.
In the English Premier League, Tottenham defeated Aston Villa in the season opener 3-1, with 1 goal from Tanguy Ndombele and 2 goals from Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane. Aston Villa had a 1 goal lead from the 9th minute on, however Ndombele tied it in the 73rd minute and Harry Kane finished the job with goals in the 86th minute and 90th minute respectively.
The Hotspurs then went on to face Manchester City in their 2nd EPL fixture. The rivalry stayed true to the form of the previous season as the two sides once again completed a game with a controversial ending decided by VAR. Lamela and Moura scored for the Hotspurs while Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero scored for Manchester City. The game ended due to VAR finding that Gabriel Jesus was offside on his 97th minute go ahead strike.
The Hotspurs next battle will be against Newcastle United, who has experienced many ups and downs on the young season so far in the English Premier League and Premier League Asia. They have played two fixtures in each competition although have only won one time so far. It is expected to be a very tough test when Newcastle faces Tottenham.
So far Hotspurs who have impressed so far include English national and the face of the club Harry Kane, French national and the team’s newest acquisition Tanguy Ndombele, and Brazilian national and talented veteran Lucas Moura. Time will tell what other faces make large impacts on the pitch for the Hotspurs as more and more fixtures unfold in the coming days, weeks, and months.
Unbeaten in their first two EPL games and with a very beatable Newcastle United club coming up, manager Mauricio Pochettino and his Hotspurs cannot relax for too much longer as they head to face a solid Arsenal squad in matchweek 4.
The Hotspurs plan for the near future is to make sure not to overlook their next opponent no matter how much of a favorite they are and then take their momentum into a tough match against the talented Arsenal squad.
